Help cure Alzheimer’s disease, Cancer, and other aggregation related diseases! (not spam) READ!
Video Games No Comments »Really this is no joke and it is far from some lame Spam attempt. Let me try and break this down in simple terms. There is a application you can run from your home PC and now PS3 (WHICH I RUN CONSTANTLY) called Folding@Home developed by the great minds over at Stanford University.
In layman’s terms, Folding@Home uses your computer’s CPU/GPU (and now your Playstation 3) to crunch data for research on proteins, which helps discover cures for diseases. It’s free, and you can run it while your PC is idle or your PS3 to an extent however not in the background. This is an amazing application that has been getting much applaud lately for good reasons mind you.
Ahhh number crunching… think of it as trying to crack a very very very long code. Such as “5764574574574574588704567445678590790879″
Take that number and multiply it by a few hundred thousand. How could you figure something like that out if need be? Uhhh I do not think you could, not even with your PC (performing as the worlds greatest super computer) crunching numbers as fast as possible for 10 years straight.
With folding at home there is no centralized server for this. You fine people can help out, and anyone in the world with a computer for that matter. Fuck a cluster of super computers. With a few million people working toward a goal such as this, the odds are a bit more realistic if you follow dmb062082 now? If folding@home had a connect rate of even 4 out of every 10 computers in the world, we would be looking pretty good, alas, that is not the case fellow 6toers. So get cracking… err, crunching. Every unit helps! -_-
I took the time to set up a team over at the Stanford F@H website (right now its just me ha) to track stats and such towards a common goal of solving some of the worlds greatest mysteries.
Here is a link to our team and its stats
If you want to contribute to this team, use the number “62755″ in the team field after you create an account. You don’t have to use our team number I could give a rats ass, so long as you just help out. I bet you know someone that has died or will die of Cancer, so do not be a fucking jew, if you have a cable modem and a computer help out please. It might cost a few dollars extra per month in electricity, if you can not afford that, just end your life now.
